First African Ethereum ecosystem event to coincide with the much anticipated Ethereum merge date

The cryptocurrency ecosystem, specifically in Africa, has been propelled by regular events in every part of the continent. These fairs have pushed crypto adoption, which is still relatively low, to a quantifiable number of Africans.

Among the propellers and believers in the workability of crypto events are ETHSafari. They believe that events help projects make connections, build crypto communities and increase the visibility of the compound crypto ecosystem.

ETHSafari to host first African-wide Crypto Event

@ethsafari  are organizing a cryptocurrency event that will host several enthusiasts and experts from across Africa. The event is coming to Kilifi County, Kenya and is scheduled to run from the 18th to the 24th of September this year. The dates coincide with the Ethereum merge, which is scheduled to happen on September 19.

Ethereum merge: Transition from proof-of-work to proof of stake

The event organizers stated that the fair will bring together more than 1000 attendees across Africa and globally.

The event’s main aim is to delve into the crypto ecosystem and celebrate the firm’s progress over the years. They intend to popularize a decentralized future, use cases in the continent, and the people behind the digital money technology.

Among the majorly anticipated conversations in the event will be how to bridge the gap between the global and African ecosystems.

The primary topics that will feature during the show include DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations), DeFi (decentralized finance), Gaming, NFTs, and Impact.

A participant can attend the event in either of the following:

  • Web3 project builders
  • Mentor builders @hackathon
  • Judge web3 projects @hackathon
  • A speaker or presenter at the conference
  • Volunteers or operations supporters
  • Press/ media coverage
  • Sponsor of @ethsafari
  • @ethsafari enthusiasts, among others

Early bird tickets to the event go for 100USD. Interested parties can attend the event either physically or virtually. The program will run as follows;

The organizers have made arrangements to have a train to transport people from Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, to Kilifi. You can book your early bird ticket to get the directions. 

ETHSafari program schedule

A Bootcamp- There will be a Bootcamp in the first two days, the 18th and 19th of September.

ETHSafari hackathon- From 20th to 22nd, ETHSafari will cover a hackathonOn these two days of the event, participants will be able to win cash prizes. Teams participating in the ETHSafari event will also be linked to local and international mentors who will help them tackle critical challenges.

A conference- A conference will then be held from the 22nd to the 24th. Organizers say it will feature a blend of local, regional and international speakersThe agenda of the conference will be released at a later date.

“Great events leave space for others to bring their creativity and energy. We have purposely left many gaps in the Nairobi schedule so our local friends can host events and meetups,” ETHSafari core contributor Sunny Satva said.

Ethereum Foundation Africa Fellow and an instigator of ETHSafari Benson Njuguna said: “We’ve already had more than 270 signups for the event with nothing more than some dates and a logo announced to date. It shows that there’s huge interest in the space. We’re excited to fill a gap in hosting the very first Ethereum ecosystem event in the region and setting the stage for many future ETHSafari events around the continent.
