The largest airline in Japan, All Nippon Airways (ANA), has recently launched a Nonfungible tokens (NFT) marketplace. They have done this in collaboration with its subsidiary, ANA Neo. The platform, named the “ANA GranWhale NFT Marketplace,” has been introduced with an inaugural collection by aerial photographer Luke Ozawa.

Moreover, the developers have shared details about the marketplace. They have stated that Ozawa’s first digital photo, converted into an NFT, will be available for purchase starting from May 30. Furthermore, one of the NFTs will be sold along with a positive film. The films served as the source for photo development. Moreover, this unique item will be sold at auction for a price of 100,000 yen.

Additionally, ANA has announced that the second collection of NFTs will be released on June 7. It will feature the NFT image conversion of ANA’s first Boeing 787 aircraft. These NFTs will be presented as 3D model airplanes and will consist of 787 items in total, with two types available. Each item will be priced at 7,870 yen.

With revenues of $12.2 billion in its previous fiscal year, ANA holds the position of Japan’s largest airline. The company intends to expand its NFT product line in the future. They are aiming to enhance the value of the customer experience through the commercialization of NFTs.

The development of ANA Neo’s GranWhale began in August of last year. Moreover, the project is focused on creating a virtual travel platform that utilizes various technologies. This includes virtual reality (VR), to recreate global destinations and cultures within metaverse parks. Mitsuo Tomita, the president of ANA Neo, has explained the symbolism behind the project’s logo, stating that the arrow represents the fusion of the virtual and the real, signifying ANA GranWhale’s journey towards the future with stability and growth. The aim is, however, to establish a future where Web 3.0 and metaverse travel become increasingly commonplace.

The launch of the ANA GranWhale NFT Marketplace represents ANA’s foray into the world of NFTs, offering a platform for digital art and collectables. By leveraging NFT technology, ANA seeks to provide unique and immersive experiences to its customers, combining the virtual and real worlds. As the marketplace expands and evolves, it is expected to attract both aviation enthusiasts and NFT collectors, contributing to the growing adoption and integration of NFTs in various industries.
